The Abiu is one of the earliest fruits that ripens in India. A native of South American countries like Brazil and Ecuador, it starts yielding in the month of December, which makes it a good choice for commercial farmers as the prices would be fairly high during that period. It is also an excellent choice for the normal person as it is one of the only fruits that grows at that time.
It is very good for your eyes, as it has a high Vitamin A content. It also has a high vitamin and mineral content in general, including lots of Vitamin C for a healthy immune system. And it is good for the skin and digestion as well.
The fruits taste fairly sweet with a few seeds in the center. The skin of the fruits turn yellow when the fruit has matured and is inedible. The flesh inside has a taste that is similar to caramel. Takes about 2 years to start yielding although there have been trees at our farm which gave results as early as 1 and half year.
